Understanding Body Fat Percentage
Body fat percentage is a better indicator of health than weight alone because it distinguishes between fat mass and lean muscle mass. While BMI tells you if you are heavy for your height, body fat percentage tells you what that weight is composed of.
The US Navy Method
This calculator uses the US Navy Method, a widely used formula that estimates body fat based on body circumference measurements. It is known for being accurate within 3-4% for most people when measurements are taken correctly.
