How much should I weigh?

"Ideal weight" is a range rather than a single number. It varies depending on your height, gender, and body frame. Medical professionals use several formulas to estimate this healthy range.

Formulas Explained

Robinson Formula (1983)

One of the most popular formulas, often used for drug dosage calculations.

Miller Formula (1983)

Often gives a slightly lower ideal weight estimate than Robinson.

Devine Formula (1974)

The most widely used formula, originally developed for dosing medications like gentamicin.

Hamwi Formula (1964)

"106 lbs for first 5 feet, plus 6 lbs for every inch thereafter." Very easy to memorize.

Is this accurate for me?

These formulas are based on averages and do not account for muscle mass or bone density. If you are an athlete or bodybuilder, your "ideal" weight might be higher than these estimates due to muscle weight.
